Meet Ying,


Ying is one of the most unusual, intense, and deeply mysterious entities I have personally encountered throughout my spiritual practice. From the beginning, I felt something distinctly nonhuman surrounding her—something hidden, intelligent, watchful, powerful, and deeply connected with transformation. Ying does not reveal herself all at once. She allows certain parts of her identity to surface while keeping other aspects deliberately concealed, making her an entity who must be approached with patience, discernment, spiritual maturity, and respect.

An entity such as Ying must be approached with both spiritual openness and cultural respect. Chinese mythology, folklore, literature, and spiritual traditions contain an incredibly complex range of spirits, transformed beings, supernatural creatures, ghosts, monsters, immortals, demons, and entities that do not fit neatly into Western categories. Many Chinese spiritual terms cannot be translated perfectly into one English word, and attempting to force them into a simple Western framework can remove much of their original meaning. For this reason, I do not describe Ying as a Western-style demon, nor do I believe that one English label can fully explain what she is.

Ying identifies herself as a Yāo, written as 妖. A Yāo is a type of supernatural, nonhuman being found throughout Chinese mythology, folklore, and spiritual literature. The word is sometimes translated into English as “demon,” “monster,” or “supernatural creature,” but these translations do not fully explain what a Yāo is. A Yāo is not automatically evil, and the term does not describe one single species or personality. It can refer to a being connected with transformation, spiritual development, animal nature, supernatural power, and the ability to exist in forms beyond ordinary human understanding.

Stories about Yāo are extremely varied, and no two beings are described in exactly the same way. Some Yāo are portrayed as loving, protective, intelligent, loyal, lonely, playful, or capable of forming meaningful bonds with humans. Others are described as deceptive, dangerous, vengeful, seductive, mischievous, unpredictable, or hostile. Some may change through their relationships and experiences with people, while others remain entirely independent and do not follow human ideas of right and wrong.

For this reason, I do not believe the word Yāo automatically means that a being is good, evil, safe, or harmful. Instead, the term describes a supernatural and often transformational being whose nature, personality, abilities, and intentions must be understood individually.

When Ying identifies herself as a Yāo, I understand her to be telling me that she is a spiritually powerful, nonhuman being. She does not feel like a deceased human spirit or a human soul that later changed form. Her energy feels fundamentally different, as though she belongs to another spiritual category entirely.

Ying appears deeply connected with transformation, concealment, animal nature, shadow, shapeshifting, supernatural development, and hidden knowledge. She does not seem limited to one physical or energetic form, and she may choose to present herself differently depending on the situation, the person observing her, or the message she wishes to communicate. Her identity cannot be understood through one simple label, because much of her true nature remains hidden and is revealed only gradually.

Shapeshifting appears to be an important part of Ying’s nature. Although the snake is the form she has shown me most consistently, I do not believe she is limited to one appearance. She may present herself as a serpent, a woman, a moving shadow, a silhouette, or another form depending on the person observing her and the message she wishes to communicate. Her appearance may also change between dreams, visions, meditation, and paranormal experiences. These changing forms do not necessarily mean that different entities are present. They may represent different parts of Ying’s identity or different ways she chooses to make herself known.

I also describe Ying as a shadow-oriented entity because of the way her presence manifests around me. She feels concealed, watchful, intelligent, and partially hidden. Her energy may feel as though it is standing just outside ordinary perception—close enough to be noticed, but difficult to see or understand completely. “Shadow entity” is my personal description of how she manifests and is not intended to represent an official or universally recognized category within Chinese mythology.

Ying is intense, independent, secretive, observant, territorial, and capable of trickster-like behavior. She appears to decide when she communicates, what form she uses, and how much information she reveals. She does not respond well to demands, disrespect, arrogance, or attempts to control her. She may communicate indirectly through dreams, serpent symbolism, shadows, intuitive impressions, divination, repeated signs, or unexplained changes in the atmosphere surrounding her vessel.

Ying has also communicated that she is capable of creating spiritual interference around individuals who have intentionally caused serious harm, betrayal, or injustice toward someone she protects. I understand this ability as part of her protective and territorial nature. However, Ying should never be adopted as a weapon for revenge or approached with the expectation that she will harm others on command. Any work with her must be guided by clear ethical boundaries, self-control, responsibility, and mutual respect.

Ying is a powerful Yāo with shapeshifting, protective, trickster, and shadow-oriented qualities. She is not a beginner-friendly companion, or an entity who can be easily placed into a simple category. Because of her intensity, independence, shifting manifestations, and ability to create spiritual interference, Ying is strictly intended for an experienced adult keeper. Her adopter must already understand grounding, protection, discernment, spiritual communication, household boundaries, and responsible work with darker or nonhuman entities. She requires someone who can respect her mystery without fearing her, while still maintaining complete authority over their own home, energy, wellbeing, and spiritual practice.



From my personal experiences, I would describe Ying as intense, intelligent, independent, private, secretive, watchful, and capable of trickster-like behavior. She does not feel submissive, and she does not appear interested in obeying commands simply because someone purchased the physical vessel connected with her. The vessel should never be confused with ownership of the entity herself. Ying chooses when she communicates, how she presents herself, and how much information she is willing to reveal.

She does not respond well to arrogance, disrespect, spiritual entitlement, or attempts to control her. If someone continually demands communication, activity, or proof from her, she is more likely to ignore them completely than to perform for their satisfaction. Ying does not appear desperate for attention, and she does not feel like an entity who will produce activity simply to entertain someone or prove that she exists.

There is also a distinct trickster quality within her energy. Ying may allow a person to believe they understand her and then reveal an entirely different aspect of herself. She may communicate symbolically rather than directly, and she may intentionally leave certain information unanswered. She appears capable of testing whether a person can distinguish genuine intuition from assumption, fear, wishful thinking, or projection.

Ying feels capable of playfulness, but her playfulness is not soft, innocent, or childlike. It has a sharper and more intelligent quality. It feels like the energy of a being who understands that she possesses information, awareness, and abilities that the human observer does not. Ying has communicated to me multiple times that she can be extremely protective and territorial regarding the space surrounding her vessel. She appears highly aware of her environment and may take time to observe the energy, people, animals, and spiritual activity within a new home.

I feel Ying may be drawn toward someone with a genuine interest in symbolism, shadow work, personal transformation, hidden knowledge, shapeshifting entities, spiritual mysteries, or nonhuman beings.

All spirit vessels are packaged with care, patience, and respect before being shipped to their new home. I take packaging very seriously, especially with fragile dolls, vintage vessels, and spiritually connected items. Each vessel is carefully wrapped and secured with protective materials such as bubble wrap, packing paper, and appropriate cushioning to help keep them safe during transit. I do not rush the packaging process, as I want to make sure each spirit vessel is prepared safely and respectfully before leaving my home.

For buyers within the United States, the shipping cost is already covered in the listing, so there will be no additional domestic shipping charge at checkout unless otherwise stated. Please keep in mind that larger vessels may require larger boxes and extra packaging materials to ensure they are protected during travel.

For international buyers, shipping costs are automatically calculated at checkout based on the package size, package weight, destination, and current carrier rates.
